Far more than just a massage!
Last week while I was getting my hair done I sat back and listened to several ladies talking about massages and how they are just too fru-fru. One of the ladies had a husband who was having severe back pain and she thought they had to visit a chiropractor to get a beneficial massage. After an in depth conversation with many around the salon I realized that a lot of people have no idea that there are many other types of massages than just Swedish and the benefits go far beyond just relaxation.
At Royal Oak Massage and Spa we offer those relaxing Swedish massages but we also offer so much more. Deep tissue, Reflexology, Sports, Thai, Trigger Point Massage and Prenatal Massages are actually beneficial and help your body in a lot of different ways. Before each massage our Massage Therapists take time to find out about you and what type of massage would most benefit you.
Swedish Massage is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping to help relax and energize you.
Deep Tissue is a massage technique that uses slower, more-forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, commonly to help with muscle damage from injuries.
Sports Massage is similar to Swedish massage, but it’s geared toward people involved in sport activities to help prevent or treat injuries.
Trigger Point Massage focuses on areas of tight muscle fibers that can form in your muscles after injuries or overuse.
Reflexology focuses on the feet and hands and works to stimulate the body into healing itself by improving circulation, reducing stress, pain and restoring natural balance.
Thai Massage is generally done on the floor with use of mats and is a deep, full-body massage along with stretching progressing from the feet up and focusing on sen or energy lines throughout the body, with the aim of clearing blockages in these lines, and stimulating the flow of blood throughout the body.
Prenatal Massage is a massage therapy performed during pregnancy. According to Americanpregnancy.org Prenatal Massages can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health
